Centre for Advances in Reliability and Safety Limited (CAiRS), initiated by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is established in 2020 with its operation located in the Hong Kong Science Park, New Territories, Hong Kong. The mission of CAiRS is to bridge academic and industrial counterparts to introduce and implement artificial intelligence methods and prognostic techniques to advance reliability and safety. The goal of the Centre is to improve reliability and safety of critical components and devices, products, systems and sub-systems designed, commissioned and/or manufactured by Hong Kong companies and enterprises. Job Description
Senior Project Engineer / Project Engineer (Ref. No.: CAiRS-Engineering-01)
Responsibilities
The appointees will report to the Head of Engineering and perform project-related engineering work in CAiRS.
For the post of Project Engineer, the appointee will be required:
- To work with the research team on system/product design and development (including hardware and software)
- To prepare a prototype of the system/product.
- To prepare project technical documents, including but not limited to engineering drawings diagrams, reports, working instructions, manuals, BOM, etc…
- To coordinate with contractors and liaise with clients and vendors.
- To monitor project quality and development progress
- To provide technical support to the research team and other departments.
- To support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegates.
Requirements
Applicants should have/ be:
- Bachelor's degree in electronic, electrical, mechanical engineering, computer science, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in system/product design and development.
- Candidate with more experience will be considered as a senior project engineer
- Handon experience in new product/solution prototype design and development.
- Proficiency in engineering CAD software, such as PADS, Altium, AutoCAD, Pro-E, SolidWorks etc…)
- Familiar with simulation (such as MATLAB, COMSOL, etc.) and software programming (such as C, C++, Python, HTML, Java, Native, React Native, SQL, DevOps, MLOps, etc..)
- Good knowledge of AI algorithms and machine learning.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze information.
- Self-motivated, and mature with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Willingness to undertake a wide range of tasks.
- Proficiency in written English and Chinese.
